Dear Member,
First, I would like to thank everyone for sticking with us throughout a difficult start to the year. We must seek to move beyond the media obsessions and continue to put forward our positive agenda.
We are now coming out of the pandemic quicker than many other countries due to our highly effective vaccine programme. Our economy is recovering fast, and we need our government to be focused on its domestic programme as well as its international challenges, including of course the potential fallout from the rapidly deteriorating situation in and around Ukraine. These are big issues, and matters on which we will eventually be judged by the electorate.
Unitary Elections, 5th May 2022
Together with our fellow Associations in Somerset, our main focus is now on helping our councillor candidates to win seats on the county’s new Unitary Authority and thus achieve a Conservative majority on Somerset Council on 5th May.

We are therefore mobilising our supporters to help our candidate standing in these crucial May elections. Do help if you can spare time on our Action Days which will be on most Saturdays over the next couple of months. These will be notified to you by Somerset Conservatives so watch out for those emails.
We’ve already been out delivering leaflets in Wincanton, Bruton, Somerton and Compton Dundon, and we’ve even had support from outside our area with members coming to help deliver from Dorset and Wiltshire. That’s really encouraging and much appreciated.

Annual General Meeting, Friday 11th March 2022
This year’s AGM is now just over a fortnight away. As previously notified, it will be held at 6.00pm on Friday 11th March 2022 at the Edgar Hall in Somerton. This will be the first full live meeting of the membership we will have had since the one we held on 13th March 2020, just ten days before Lockdown 1.
