David Hall was last week (23rd February) selected as the Conservative Candidate for the upcoming Somerset Council by-election in Somerton, following the sad passing of the previous councillor, Cllr Dean Ruddle.
David has committed himself to being a champion for the community and make sure that the Liberal Democrat Council cannot continue to take the area for granted. He has vowed to fight to protect recycling centres and to oppose cuts to bus services that have been discussed by the Lib Dem administration to help tackle their £100 million deficit.
David has already been out speaking to the community. And the message is clear – local people want further action to address the real issues facing the area. If elected, local people’s priorities will be David’s priorities and he will focus on:
- Protecting and improving our bus services, so that we can attend appointments, visit family and friends and access key services.
- Fighting for the Somerton and Langport train station, and for better connectivity while we continue to push for this to happen, and better maintenance of our roads and pavements.
- Working with the Police and Crime Commissioner, Mark Shelford, to see more police on our streets, addressing anti-social behaviour in our towns and villages, and catching those who prey on our rural areas.
Following his selection, David Hall said:
“I am delighted to have been selected as the Conservative Candidate for the upcoming Somerset Council By-Election in Somerton.
“I am committed to being a robust champion for our area and fight against the proposed Lib Dem cuts to our vital services such as the planned closure of recycling centres and cuts to vital bus services.
“For far too long, the Lib Dems have taken local people and our whole area for granted, by voting for me on the 28th of March local people can send a clear message that they want a representative that shares their priorities.”
