Somerset County Councillor for Frome North
Since I was selected to stand for Frome North in the Unitary elections, my life has been exhilarating, exciting and exhausting, and sometimes all at the same time. But ultimately, brilliant! I can safely say that I am, four months in, finding my ‘groove’.
I have the greatest privilege of sitting on the Adult and Social Care Scrutiny Committee, which has been such a positive experience. I also put my hand up to sit on the Member Development group. There is a real need to focus the training on ‘how to’ and not just information overload. I look forward to getting started.
It is important for me to know what is happening in the area, who to refer and signpost issues to, and how to connect communities. I have thus met with a range of organisations to find out what they are doing in the Frome North area:
Farmers’ Health Hub, the ME Association, AgeUK, Ageing without Children, Frome College, Fair Frome, Active and In Touch, Focus Bath and the Mendip Health Connectors.
They are all so grateful for me taking an interest and I have loved meeting hardworking, inspirational community leaders who are all making such a valuable difference.
