Another week, another perplexing decision by the Liberal Democrats. This time, it's the local parish councils that will suffer. The Liberal Democrats are anxious to devolve responsibilities onto the parish councils. Sounds good - but here's the catch: no budget will be devolved with these new responsibilities. If parish councils want this additional work, they must raise the money to fund it through their precepts. The county council is hoarding the money it would have spent – money residents have already been taxed for – to likely waste on any number of potential vanity projects.
Liberal Democrat devolution is always in the interests of politicians, never residents – UNLESS YOU LIKE BEING TAXED TWICE.
