Mendip Central and East
PHILIP HAM
I have lived in the Central and East Mendip Ward all my life and I have over 20 years of experience of being a Councillor at Parish, District and County level.
I am married with two children and one grandchild and have just retired from farming. I have experience in dairy, poultry, pig, beef and arable farming, and in latter years organic farming.
I also ran an agriculture contracting business for over 40 years and also formed a agricultural machinery business which was very successful and was bought out by a large international manufacturer.
I support business, jobs, apprenticeships, and those who work to provide core services to our communities in education, waste disposal, public transport and other key areas.
I firmly believe in Equality and Diversity and have chaired that committee at Mendip District Council for 15 years, helping those less fortunate, including people with disabilities and pensioners. I enjoy working with local volunteering groups like the local Community Hub, YMCA, youth club, CAB, Food Bank and am a founder director to the Frome Independent Market.
I have a keen interest in sport especially rugby, cricket, football, and I enjoy playing skittles and crib.
