My name is Mark Shelford and I’m asking you to use your postal vote to help me cut crime and deliver a brighter, safer future for Avon & Somerset.
Your local council has started to send out postal votes. That means yours will arrive in the next few days, if it hasn’t already.
And with thousands of local residents set to use their postal votes, the result of the Police and Crime Commissioner election will come down to people like you.
As your PCC, I have delivered more police and safer streets, with:
- 1,500 new police officers recruited, delivering an extra 500 officers focused on Neighbourhood Policing and CID investigations.
- A 300% increase in the number of rape cases reaching the courts – a major achievement by the new courageous Chief Constable I appointed in 2021.
- Avon and Somerset being the top performing constabulary in England for disrupting illegal drug activity thanks to Operation Scorpion.
And new police stations are being opened in Bath and Minehead, as well as major refurbishments to the Yeovil station and the Trinity Road station in Bristol, making the police more accessible to the public.
The contrast between Conservative and Labour PCCs could not be clearer. You are 40% more likely to be a victim of a crime under a Labour PCC. And not a single Labour PCC has cut crime since 2021.
Your postal vote will decide the future of your community – whether we continue to deliver more police and safer streets, or go back to square one.
To have your say over your community’s future, all you need to do is fill in your postal vote and send it back using the freepost envelope provided.
It takes less than sixty seconds to vote by post. So don’t wait. Join thousands of local people and vote Conservative today.
Yours sincerely,
Mark Shelford
